[EU / Expert] News in brief: Locomotives

We publish a lot of news about Europe’s most modern locomotives – yet there is always (minor) events that you miss. A summary of the details you need to know as a locomotive expert:

  • Akiem > LokoTrain: 186 373 is getting a total make-over…;
  • Akiem: 186 354 misses parts of its red squircles;
  • Akiem > CD Cargo Poland: 594 013 / 5170 163 now has a name: JOŽIN;
  • Akiem > SNCF Infra: DE18 no. 679041 was on a test run last week – order almost complete (41 of 44).
  • Alpha Trains > CFL Cargo: A second G1000BB diesel got the CFL Cargo “bumble bee” design CFL Cargo 1103 / 92 82 0001 103-1. The first one was CFL Cargo 1109 / 92 80 1271 016-8.
  • Alpha Trains: 483 007 in Italy got the lime-silver Alpha Trains design. It no longer has red on its nose – which is mandatory for the TRAXX DC;
  • Alpha Trains: we expect at least four new Vectron MS locomotives for Alpha Trains to enter service this quarter. 193 589 is the first one released and is now hired to Adriafer from Italy.
  • Alpha Trains > Captrain España: ERA has published the authorization of the Euro6000 normal-gauge for France’s 1,5kV DC network;
  • Beacon Rail > HSL Logistik: 185 602 had a main revision in Kassel (REV Alstom 21.04.22) and kept its special design!;
  • Captrain Deutschland: 185 543 has lost most of its Captrain design; it now runs around in silver/green/lime/light grey, a mix of original and Captrain design;
  • Captrain España: Locomotive 253 103 was involved in an accident;
  • CargoUnit: The logos on 5370 037 / 193 567 have changed; Now it sports “Bahnoperator” + “Maersk”;
  • CFL Cargo: In Kassel, a new TRAXX MS3 for this operator was seen – more details will follow;
  • CFR: Phoenix locomotive no. 473 003 shines bright in a new red livery;
  • CRRC/Vossloh/Imateq > Medway: is now hiring DE18 locomotive no.2366;
  • DB Cargo Deutschland: A very severe accident with two freight trains in Germany – a freight train ran into another one from behind – the driver of 152 128 sadly passed away; meanwhile, the locomotive has been recovered and sent to Bender’s scrapyard by truck.
  • DB Cargo Deutschland: 249 001 and 002 both have MMAL 20.05.2022;
  • DB Cargo Deutschland: There are 145 series electrics that DB Cargo Deutschland hired to its daughter company RBH, that got a repaint in blue/silver with RBH logos, and then lost these logos again. 145 003 is an example; 145 059 is another one;
  • DB Cargo Deutschland: 185 055 and 196, or what was left of them, have been scrapped by Bender last week. Before they came to the scrapyard, they most likely paid a visit to Alstom’s factory in Kassel. Both machines, stripped from many re-usable parts were sidelined in Seelze. They were damaged during an accident in Fallersleben on 31.03.2021.
  • DB Cargo Deutschland: Sigrid Evelyn Nikutta of DB Cargo posted a black Vectron with a “Lok am Ring” text on its side – this design will remain digital, no such design is planned – DB just wanted to promote its logistical support for the Rock am Ring” festival in Germany;
  • DB Cargo Deutschland / RBH: 187 129 has joined the fleet of RBH;
  • DB Cargo: Since April 2022, the LWR workshop in Rotterdam is also maintaining series 189 electrics for DB Cargo.
  • DB Fernverkehr: More 101s are leaving us – Since December, 101 058 and 106 have been scrapped (no.8 and 9) –  101 113 did arrive at Bender’s scrapyard but remained untouched.
  • DB Regio: 146 234’s stickers have changed – the Covid-19-theme has been replaced by a more general design, still promoting radio station SW3 – the slogan is “Deine Heimat, Dein Radio”.
  • ELL: The two newbies: 193 943 is white, 193 942 has the standard ELL design;
  • ELL > LTE Romania: Meanwhile in Bulgaria: Blue 1080 064 got large white LTE logos on its sides;
  • ELP > DB Cargo Deutschland: Finishing touch at the moment of 2159 240 and 241, which get the red standard DB design, all red noses, a grey frame, and small DB logos. They should go to Mühldorf soon.
  • ELP > LWC: In May 2022, Lappwaldbahn Cargo came to Padborg in Denmark (!) with an EuroDual locomotive;
  • Enon: has bought G1206 diesel locomotive 275 009;
  • GB Railfreight: Modernized locomotives, but their liveries come from the past – 69005 in its new old green;
  • Laude > PKP Cargo: The lessee has ended the lease of five Laude locomotives (1x Vectron and 4x Dragon2)
  • LNVG > Metronom: the most recent TRAXX/Twindexx trains Bombardier delivered to Metronom are not doing well. For example;
  • Lokomotion: 185 664 arrived in Kassel for repair – some of its headlights were covered by metal;
  • Nexrail: is promoting the test runs of its DE18 in Belgium, with a nice video;
  • NJ Transit: 4552 was seen on 20.05.2022;
  • Nordic Re-finance: an ME diesel locomotive got a full wrap about the Little Mermaid fairytale by H.C Andersen;
  • MRCE: 10+ ES64F4 locomotives are meanwhile parked at Akiem’s/MGW Technik’s workshop in Krefeld;
  • MRCE > SBBCI: X4E-659/193 659 has been released from LWR in Rotterdam with a Shadowpercer design – yet instead of the white mountains, it has the logo of “Die Güterbahnen”;
  • Pesa: Meanwhile, an all-silver Gama locomotive has been produced which originally had painted number 111Eo-001; Now it has number 111Eo-005; So far it looks like a 3kV-only locomotive;
  • RailAdventure: A super nice photo report was published on Drehscheibe-online about DB Cargo 185 118 on LocoBuggies;
  • Railpool: 186 290 has lost its yellow Medway design;
  • Railpool > TX Logistik: Locomotive 186 453 has lost its Lineas logos and was then hired to TX Logistik;
  • Railpool > HSL Logistik: 186 257 has small HSL Logistik logos on its noses;
  • RCP: Meanwhile, Pesa has completed 111Ed-040 and 111Ed-041 for RCP;
  • SBB: with the completion of the revision on 460 065, the modernization program of these locomotives has been completed;
  • Siemens / Hectorrail: have completed the first main revision on a Vectron in Sweden; 243 001 got its treatment from BS Verkstäder AB in Falköping
  • STK: from Poland, filed for bankruptcy, it once had a fleet of Dragon locomotives, which are now owned by CargoUnit;
  • Ten Rail: published an image of a EuroRunner model in a blue/white Ten Rail design; There are no plans to make it real so far as we know;
  • Trenitalia: Two E.464 electrics in “Frecciabianca” service in Sicily moved to Rome and lost their Frecciabianca logos;
  • ZSSK: leased Vectron 383 104 has lost its red stickers on one cab;
