[CA] The progress of Stadler FLIRT trains for the Canadian capital

In May 2018, the Canadian capital of Ottawa, announced the purchase of seven 4-car Stadler FLIRT DMUs for its extended Trillium Line. As stage two of the line is progressing well, so is the construction of these diesel trains with a power-pack. The first units are taking shape to be ready for operation in 2022.

Ottawa’s public transport provider, OC Transpo, already has DMUs made by Alstom and Bombardier. In 2022, Stadler joins the party. The new trains will be the longest trains on the line, soon to connect the city with the MacDonald-Cartier International Airport.

Meanwhile, the first trains are “getting married” in Switzerland, meaning they are being placed on their bogies:

The FLIRT units made for OC Transpo differ from the ones delivered for TEXRail. Both have four cars with a power-pack in the middle, yet, the OC Transpo trains have feature eight instead of four doors on each side:
