[DE] In the picture: Press 145 023 has a new livery again

One of the two TRAXX locomotives of German operator Pressnitztalbahn, 145 023, got a new wrap. For the second time, the locomotive is promoting the “Rushing Roland” tourism steam railway on the German island of Rűgen. This locomotive so far eluded our attention, a nice summer t(r)ip:

91 80 6145 083-2 D-PRESS / 145 023 was built in 2000 and it was purchased by Eisenbahn-Bau- and Betriebsgesellschaft Pressnitztalbahn (Press) in 2006. Press also owns 91 80 6145 085-7 D-PRESS / 145 030.

Under Press ownership, the livery of 023 changed many times. Apart from standard blue, it had a full wrap with a Fleischmann theme, and it promoted Dietel Fenster and Dampfbahnroute Sachsen. Since 2014, until earlier this year, it also had a full design celebrating Rasender Roland’s (rushing Roland) 120th anniversary.

The new design has somewhat similar, a white and green front and again a collage of old and new rolling stock. The branding is different – Rügensche Bäderbahn (RBB) is now the brand name in the center of attention.

Rügen is an island in the north of Germany with its own narrow-gauge, 24-kilometer long tourist line between Putbus and Göhren. Roland rushes here with a maximum speed of 30 km/h on 750 mm-gauge tracks. Since 2008, Pressnitztalbahn operates these trains – which explains the link between 145 023 and the design.
