[DK] Siemens: Vectron AC receives an official approval for Denmark

Siemens: On September 15, 2020, the AC version of the Vectron locomotive received official approval from the Danish safety authority “Trafik-, Bygge og Boligstyrelsen” for operating in Denmark. The approval marks an important milestone for the commissioning of 42 Vectron locomotives ordered by Danish State Railways (DSB) from Siemens Mobility over the last two years. The first three locomotives will be delivered in September 2020.

These three machines have already arrived in Kopenhagen. EB 3201, EB 3202 and EB 3203 arrived on 14.09.2020. For the authorization tests other locomotives have been used during the past years.

DSB gets Vectrons equipped with the ETCS train control system as well as the PZB/LZB and DK-STM control systems. They will operate in Denmark and Germany and will be used primarily in regional transport as traction for DSB’s Bombardier-built double-decker passenger cars. Later, pairs of EB electrics will be hauling the Talgo-passenger cars on order.

Denmark is the country no.20 to approve a version of the Vectron. The complete list: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
