[DE] In the picture: Smartrons for Romania on tests [updated x2]

Last summer, during the official presentation for the Smartron for Bulgaria and Romania, it was made public that Romanian operator E-P Rail has ordered such locomotives to further expand its fleet. In the meanwhile, several Smartrons for Romania have completed their acceptance run around Munich – one can recognize them by a big “RO” in the UIC raster on their frames.

We thank Christian Bauer (check out his Flickr page) and for sharing his images with us. This article was originally published on 21.05.2020 – and updated on 22.05.2020 and 29.05.2020 – new picture added.

Update 29.05.2020

The third one in a row! ’91 80 6192 027-1 D-SIEAG’ is the latest  Smartron for Romania to appear near Munich. Christian Bauer caught it on 28.05.2020 in Paindorf:

Update 22.05.2020

We already saw 192 026 (below), but there was another sighting of a Romanian-marked Smartron this week.  On 19.05.2020 and Klaus Seidl‎ was able to photograph ’91 80 6192 020-6 D-SIEAG’ in Unterweilbach:
