[DE] Special delivery train: Mireos for the Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn and…

The Mireo fleet across Germany is growing. As more units are being outshopped by Siemens, special sights such, as the one shown in this article, become a reality. Recently, RailAdventure was seen transferring several Mireos for the Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn across Germany. But there was yet another brand new trainset by Siemens coupled to this train. Let’s have a closer look:

We thank Jeroen Franssen and Steffen Tröndle for their pictures:

4x Siemens Mireo

1, 2, 3, 4…5! Five EMU’s coupled as a single train. The first of them is a Mireo for the Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn, numbered 463 025/525:

Next up, three more Mireos: 026/526 (which we previously showed running tests under its own power), 027/527, and 028/528:

1x Siemens Desiro HC

As promised, we also reveal the 5th trainset of the consist. This one is different, and easy to spot because it has a double-deck set-up. Indeed, it is a Desiro HC for Baden-Württemberg. Number 1462 066, to be exact:

Powered by RailAdventure

These special trains require a special motive power. RailAdventure is the name of Europe’s ‘Interim Operator’, which specializes in this type of delivery. And they had a Siemens modern electric drive it – their EuroSprinter ES64U4, also known as 183 500:
