After years of waiting and failed attempts, the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) is finally initiating a fleet renewal program for its Passenger Services division. Previously, long-distance EMUs were expected to be in the focus. Now, the operator has shifted its strategy and will be looking for brand new electrics. Existing locomotive upgrades have also been scheduled, along with a passenger car fleet extension. Here are the details:
