[PL / Expert] ET26-001: The first Dragon 2 with shunting diesel for PKP Cargo

It is TRAKO time. On 24.09.2019 the Polish trade fair for the rail industry opened its gates in Gdańsk. We are reporting about the rolling stock on display – the latest news from the country and railcolorful details that catch our attention. 

The locomotive we will show you here is the first Dragon 2 locomotive with shunting diesel in the livery of PKP Cargo. After buying three similar machines without diesel (ET25 001-003) now the ET26 series makes its debute; The Polish national operator has recently placed in order for 31 such machines, seven with diesel shunting module, to be commissioned in 2019, plus 24 multisystem locomotives planned for 2021 en 2022. It is the largest locomotive order for Newag so far, with a value of around PLN 1 billion.

As you may know, the Polish manufacturers can anticipate quickly on new orders, so just two weeks after announcing the deal, we can board the ET26-001. But first, let’s have a look at the numbers of the machine on display in Gdańsk:
