[SN] Alstom’s Coradia Polyvalent for Senegal: shipment begins

Alstom has started shipping the 15 Coradia Polyvalent trainsets which are to be used by APIX in Senegal. The first train will travel, aboard the “Grande Angola”, from the port of Le Havre (FR) to Dakar – Estimated date of arrival: 12.11.2018.

Starting the shipments marks a further milestone in the project, that follows the successful completion of production, all on-site tests and validation by customer APIX. After arrival, bogies and car bodies will be reunited at the rolling stock maintenance site at Colobane depot, located three kilometres from Dakar, before beginning static and dynamic tests.

The Coradia Polyvalent for Senegal are part of the Regional Express Train Project (TER). Improved mobility is highly desired in Dakar – the BMUs will run on a new line, connecting the center of the city with the new Blaise Diagne International Airport. 14 stations will be served on a 55 km line, that will covered in 45 minutes.
