[AT] Video: ÖBB and Bombardier celebrate the start of the Talent3 assembly

Take a look at this video, recorded on 29.09.2017 at Hennigsdorf, Germany, where Bombardier assembles its Talent2/3 EMUs. The video showcases the first empty body shell of a Talent3 EMU for the Austrian region of Vorarlberg and a 3D VRT model. In the second quarter of 2019, 22 such trains will be delivered and commissioned, +1 compared to the number mentioned in original contract which was signed only nine months ago.

Bombardier’s Talent3 will be the second train type to enter service as ‘ÖBB Cityjet’, Siemens’ Desiro Mainline has the same branding and orange/red/white livery. The ÖBB and Bombardier have a frame contract for up to 300 such trains. It is expected that the Tirol region will soon announce an order which will be the second call-of under this contract.

Interesting is that these Vorarlberg trains will offer space to 24 bicycles during the summer. During winter these holders can be adjusted so skis can be stowed on board. The will be faster (160 in stead of 140), longer and more agile than the Talent1 EMUs they will replace.

In the future, it will be possible to use the Talent3s in Switzerland and Germany of needed.
