[GB] The Aventra for London Overground (TfL)

Bombardier has released an artist impression of its Aventra train that is currently being developed for its customer London Overground (Transport for London). Bombardier will supply 45 4-car articulated trains. Delivery will commence in 2018. The contract includes maintenance for a period of 35 years and has a total value of 358 million pounds.

After receiving the new Aventra’s, TfL will be able to withdraw its Class 315/317 trains, of which some are already over thirty years old. 31 new trains will be deployed at the Overground West Anglia route between Romford and Upminster. Eight other will come into service between Gospel Oak and Barking. The other six will be used to supplement the fleet on existing services.
