[AL] SNTF: Dual mode Coradia Polyvalent comes to Algeria

SNTF, the state rail operator of the Algeria, has signed a contract with Alstom for the supply of seventeen Coradia Polyvalent trainsets. This was announced on July 29.

For an amount of EUR 200 million, Alstom will build 6-car dual mode trains (electric 25kV AC + diesel). Each train will have six diesel engines, with an output of 350 kW each. The maximum speed will be 160 km/h. Similar trains are already in operation in several regions in France. The SNCF-trains are known under the name Régiolis.

SNTF will deploy its new train in intercity services, connecting the cities of Algiers, Oran, Annaba, Constantine and Béchar. The delivery should start in 2018.
