On June 1, Aarhus presented the designs of its future light rail vehicles, the first of its kind in Denmark. Stadler Rail will deliver two different types of trains; 13 vehicles based on the Tango platform and 13 Variobahn-sets. An attempt was made to provide a familiar look for both types, even though they are based on different platforms.
In 2017, services will start on a 12-kilometer line through the city of Aarhus. Both ends will be connected to the standard rail network, so passengers can travel directly to Nørreport, Odder, Horn Slut and Grenaa.
