[CH] Inside Alstom’s H4 locomotive for SBB

Come take a look inside! Below you see a driver’s desk of Switzerland’s newest locomotive type: The Alstom H4 a.k.a. SBB type Aem 940. We can not wait to climb inside this machine ourselves, which will be possible during InnoTrans 2018 next September

Meanwhile, three H4s have been completed (05.07.2018). The obligatory type and homologation testing is well on its way. Below you see 940 003 during ETCS L2 testing between Yverdon-les-Bains and Chavornay. Interesting is these H4s weigh around 84 metric tonnes, which can be changed to 90 if needed by placing four metal blocks onto the locomotive.
Alstom is building a pre-series batch of five locomotives, which will be in operaton for one year before series production will commence.
