They nicely follow the Greek alphabet: Alfa, Beta, Gamma. These are the names of light rail products from Polish manufacturer Modertrans. The Alfa range covers heavy modernizations of trams from the seventies. With the Beta, a completely new vehicle, Modertrans was able to offer a lowfloor section in a light rail vehicle for the first time. Now it is time for Gamma, 100% low-floor. The Polish city of Poznań just ordered 50 copies.
The 10-day period of standstill has passed, none of the competitors filed a complaint, so local operator MPK Poznan can continue with ordering the Moderus Gamma from Modertrans. Pesa and Stadler Rail/Newag were the other bidders for the contract. Within 30 months after contract signing, all vehicles need to be delivered: twenty uni-directional and thirty bi-directional trams. So we expect they will be delivered in 2018 and 2019. The order has a value of 397 million Zloty.
