[IT] Visualized: Bombardier TRAXX DCP for Italy

A new item in our ongoing series ‘vizualized’. This time we present you the Bombardier TRAXX P160DCP locomotives, part of the Eco2000 family of locomotives developed by Adtranz during the 90s. The machines however are better known by their Italian designation, the E464 series. It is the largest series of modern locomotives currently in operation in Europe. In total 728 of these single-cab locos are in service by three different operators: Trenitalia (717), Trasporto Passeggeri Emilia Romagna (10) and Trasporto Ferroviario Toscano (1).

Standard livery XMPR: For the majority of the E464 series locomotives, the livery is almost the same, based on the colors combination studied by english company XMPR for Trenitalia in 1994; Pantone 2CV Cool Gray for the almost white base, with a good quantity of Pantone 329CV green, and a Pantone 293CV blue stripe. There have been only minor modifications to the livery during the delivery of the the various orders (mostly replacing of numbers, introduction of NVR numbers). And the first batch had a different red surface between the buffers. However, the basic E464 livery was almost the same during the first 14 years of its production, from 1999 to 2013. E 464 050:

E464 600:

Leonardo Express 2: Specific livery for first class only shuttle service between Rome and Fiumicino Airport, with 5 UIC-X renewed cars. The first unit with the new livery (005) was outshopped on the 15th of december 2009. Applied on E464.002, 003, 004, 005, 314.

TiLo: Specific livery designed in 2004 at the foundation of the “TiLo” partnership between Trenitalia and SBB-CFF-FFS for the services between Lombardia (Italy) and Ticino (Switzerland). The compositions with E464 and a variable number of low-deck Trenitalia coaches were replaced by modern Staedler “Flirt” EMUs pretty soon.

Trenord: New livery studied for all the trains of the new company “Trenord”, founded in 2011 by Trenitalia and LeNord for the regional train service in Lombardia. Maybe all the 112 E 464 assigned to the Trenitalia Regional Division in Lombardia will gradually receive this livery.

Vivalto: Specific livery designed for units coupled with CO.RI.FER. double-deck coaches.

464.464: Special livery made only for E464.464, celebrating the four hundred sixty fourth engine of this group built by Bombardier in Vado Ligure (Savona, Italy). The engine was delivered in september 2009.

The new standard livery for many regional trains of Trenitalia and also for the E464s is this blue and silver livery. It was first applied on 464 589 in March 2014.

Trasporto Passeggeri Emilia Romagna:

All ten TPER (formerly known as FER) units have a distinctive livery in green, red and white. Both the left and the right side are different. The livery of the third batch (890-893) is slightly different from the first six units (901-906). E 464 890:
