On July 9, PHU Lokomotiv, a Polish investor in rolling stock, announced that it had acquired the Pesa Gama Marathon demonstrator locomotive. The gray-liveried locomotive was first presented during InnoTrans 2012 in Berlin. The electric locomotive (3 kV DC), numbered 111Ed-001, has an additional 400-kW diesel engine.
The demonstrator was tested by various operators since its completion, of which Ecco-Rail was the last in the row. This company will now continue to operate the locomotive, on hire PHU Lokomotiv.
PHU Lokomotiv and Ecco Rail also announced that they have placed an order for two new Gama locomotives.
